How We Calculate Tillable Acreage

AcreValue calculates the tillable acreage percentage by dividing the tillable acreage by the total acreage of the property. Tillable acreage is based on data sources like the USDA Cropland Data Layer, which identifies different types of land cover and helps determine which parts of a property qualify as tillable. Tillable land includes areas used for active crop farming, such as corn, soybeans, wheat, and other major crops. On the other hand, areas like pastureland, forests, wetlands, and non-cultivated lands are excluded from the tillable definition.
